On these pages we will do our best to keep you up to date with the Clan's activities in the New England Region, and direct you to other MacLeod resources on the web. If you are a MacLeod (or a member of one of our septs), we encourage you to join the Clan MacLeod! There are Clan MacLeod national societies in nine countries, and at large members in many others worldwide. Generally the Societies exist so that members can share their enthusiasm for our common heritage and ancestry, celebrate the contributions that MacLeods have made to our own countries and to the world, and promote and preserve the traditional arts and culture of Scotland. The Clan MacLeod Society USA was founded in 1954 to establish a foundation for charitable, historical and educational pursuits for clan members living in the United States. Since then it has grown to have members in all fifty states, which the Society has divided into thirteen administrative regions. New England - sans Connecticut, which belongs to the Northeast Region - is one of those administrative regions. There is a hierarchy of Clan MacLeod website resources: • The purpose of the web pages for the New England region are to share local event announcements and news, and provide a more intimate MacLeod point of contact. • The web pages of Clan MacLeod USA contain information that is common to all regions of CMS USA, nationwide. On that website you can find application forms for membership in the Clan MacLeod Society USA. • Finally, each of our Clan MacLeod national societies (based in Australia, Canada, England, France, Germany, New Zealand, the Republic of South Africa, Scotland, and the USA) belong to the Associated Clan MacLeod Societies, an organization which is exists to facilitate activites that cross national boundaries.
